To Kirisa D'Vinn, commanding officer Abyssal Guard
- Dalamar Velkyn, commanding officer Eventide Sentries
Yesterday at the Lazy Wyvern Esmera, Kaelir, Geldriia, Makora and myself were enjoying a drink. Kae went up to her room and we heard her scream. We went up to find a body face down in the middle of the floor of her room - human, male, wearing the robes of a cleric, the back of his skull smashed in. The state of his body indicated that he had been for some time (I almost wish Christy was there, she might have been able to tell more). On his robes, painted in blood, was the same 'eye' that the cultists who abducted Kae use. Es and Gel went back downstairs to steady their nerves with a drink. When I turned over the body to look at his face, it rose up, a zombie. It kept coming at us, even after its head was cut off, till I thought to cut the eye on its robe.
After the zombie was dispatched the rest of us also felt a need for a drink and went downstairs. Mynx Bloodwind had joined Es and Gel. Makora went outside for a smoke. Mynx soon heard a noise and went to investigate. Makora's flask and pipe were found on the ground, and a trail of someone being dragged and bleeding lead towards the woods. Kae ran ahead, Gel and I soon followed, and Mynx went to alert the guards. Gel and I follow the trail to the mouth of a cave. We entered to find Kae and Makora hanging from chains, and some girl I don't know on an altar. Some sort of shadowy creature attacked, then disappeared.
I stood watch as Gel was getting them down when an arrow struck my back. Gel charged and I herd her go down in pain. Cervantos came out of the darkness, ranting about me having killed someone, which soon became clear that he meant the zombie (from Ulrich I found out he had checked in for a room, he must have stumbled into Kae's by accident). When he got close I smelled a stench of alcohol - he was drunk. He said something about a spell that pointed in the direction of someone's killer - I don't know if it was pointing to me (since I did stop it by cutting the eye), the shadow creature, or someone/thing else. Cerv saw Kae, who had passed out, and seemed to forget about me. He then found a book by the altar and passed out. After dealing with our wounds, Mak, Gel I and carried the others back to Guard hall and put them in beds and fetched an Oracle to look after them.
The book appears to be similar to the kinds we found on Pirate Isle. I've added it to the library. Hopefully Jess can make some sense of it when she gets back, but without Christy I have my doubts. I've also informed the Church and asked for someone to come and possibly identify the zombie's body. I don't want the Church to think that the Guard is trying to hide anything, and finding a dead cleric in Kae's room can cast suspicion upon us by some people. If Cerv does know the body, it can explain why he was upset, but is no excuse for his drunkedness and attacking allies.
Two things are clear from this:
1 - Despite our wishes, things didn't end with the death of Yrs. For now we can only guess how active the cultists are. We can certainly expect more encounters from them.
2 - We need someone to replace Christy, both as a healer and a scholar.

*attached to the report is a small note*
Well, love, it seems strange to be writing a 'report' to you of all people. But I thought it best to write down these events while they were still fresh in my mind. I wish our duties didn't keep us separated so much, but what we do is important, and I know you would be here if you could. Besides the 'official' matters in the report, there is something we need to deal with, But I think it's best if I tell you about it in person.

PS - Been having some lovely talks with Sylph and Mynx. Your 'family' is weird, but I like them. Can't wait to introduce Jess to them.
