-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It has been many days since Kaelir has been seen. Upon further investigation, there is a note in her quarters at the Abyssal Guard, lying on her bed, with a single golden band placed next to it.
"Well, I'm leading the Shadow Servant off the guard's trail. I would explain but I don't want to bore you. Anyways, your safe now. I've taken the cult book with me so you don't get any ideas about adding names to the demon's hit list.
I've never done anything really good in my life, so I figure I might as well save some of you before I go down. If you can tell my father what's happening to me, he lives in elven village, by the name of Lucilen. I would appreciate it.
Tell Raevilin I loved him. This ring is for him. Tell Ophante I'm sorry I tried to kill him. Ha ha.
You better not cry for me or I'll come back to haunt your ass.
- Kaelir."

It had been some time since Tregarde had seen Kaelir. None of the others had seen her either, and they were getting worried. She went to Kae’s room and knocked on the door.
“Kae? Are you alright, hun?”
She tried again after a moment. She tested the handle to find the door unlocked and opened it with some worry – it wasn’t that long ago when a corpse was found in the room she was renting at the inn. At least this time the smell of death and decay wasn’t to be found. She looked inside the room, then stepped inside. Everything seemed normal except for the lack of certain items and a note on the bed. She picked up the golden band on the note and looked at it, then picked up the note itself and read.
“Oh, Kae… why?” Tregarde asked aloud in a whisper. She thought about how running away wasn’t going to solve the problem, just move it somewhere else, and it would still be chasing her. The loss of the book could be a blow in their efforts to track down the remnants of the cult, and to protect whomever on the list might still be alive… and why would Kae think that they might even seriously consider adding to the list. But mostly, she thought about how much she would miss the light elf who had become like a sister in her heart.
With a heavy heart she turned and left the room. The rest of the Guard would have to be told, and she would make arrangements for the ring to be delivered to Raevilin.
