OOC: These are the ongoing adventures/misadventures of Kaelir. A lot of these are outside the ingame time, but if you want to jump in, feel free too. I'll occasionally comment on things that happened in character, in game, as well.

"My name is Kaelir De Undriel.
Sometimes I get a little confused."
Kaelir looked up from her desk. She had thought she heard a noise outside. Her quill pen hovered on top of the heavy parchment book she had now named, "Diary." Maybe a more suitable name for it would be, "Kaelir's Crazy Time Book."
It had only been a few weeks since she had moved into the Guard's clan hall. Her bag with few belongings was still on the floor, unpacked except for a few clothes she had stuffed into the dresser next to her bed. Not that she got much chance to wear anything except her armor.
The room was sparsely decorated. Actually, to say it wasn't decorated at all would be a better statement. A lone candle sat on the desk. The dresser was bare except for a bronze mirror that was propped up on top of it. The bed was a single. Comfortable, but small. Other than that, the room was bare. The floor was wood, the walls were a dull, vanilla white. There was one window facing the west. It didn't even have curtains.
A few ink spots dripped onto the page. Kaelir looked back at the page and pressed down the quill to write the next word.
Right before something crashed through the window.

Kaelir jumped up from the desk, knocking the chair down as she reached for her sword laying on the bed. The bottle of ink spilled all over the floor.
There was a huge, black barn owl trailing feathers and glass, and blood, as it crashed onto the floor and began to shed.
Kaelir grabbed the sword and unsheathed it. The blade gleamed dully as she raised it above her head and walked to the injured barn owl. She gripped the hilt until her knuckles turned hard and white.
"The Eyes of Shillen are supposed to be dead." Kaelir said. She bit her lip. She watched the barn owl shed its black feathers. An injured face appeared as the bird's features were shed. She raised the sword above her head, prepared to plunge the sword into the owl's head.
"Kaelir... please.." A shivering, wounded dark elven woman was laying on the ground, in a mass of molted feathers. "I need... your help..."
Kaelir's muscles tensed. She slowly lowered the sword. "Shaine?" The woman looked up at Kaelir. Kaelir dropped the sword on the ground and ran to her. The woman was covered in glass, and blood. Knife cuts ran down her back, cut across her young, tender face.
"Who has done this to you? And why... have you come here?" Kaelir touched one of the wounds. Shaine winced. Her black hair spilled out across her face. "You know I am not one of THEM anymore."
"Kaelir, I..." Shaine began to cough. "Something's chasing me. I need your help."
"Come on," Kaelir picked Shaine up and half dragged her to the bed. A smear of blood and feathers trailed after them. Shaine collapsed on the bed. The woman was badly wounded. Kaelir ran to the dresser and took out a white dress. It had been one of Karafima's.
Kaelir ran back to the woman and helped her dress. She slipped the gown over Shaine's head and then fumbled with the buttons. Blood instantly stained the gown.
"I'll get you some help, Shaine, but first you need to tell me... what's chasing you?"
Shaine coughed again. Blood spilled out over her chin and dribbled down her neck.
"Something dark... and old. A shadow. A servant of the Eyes of Shillen."
Kaelir stared at Shaine for several minutes.
"....what?"

Tregarde was walking down the hallway, returning to the “Officers’ Quarters” as she had come to call the room she shared with Risa and Jess, from the kitchen to fetch some food. She was beginning to learn to hate paperwork, but as second in command she had to deal with it. At least the food run gave her a small break. She had half a carrot sticking out of her mouth, which she bit off and nearly dropped the tray when she heard the crash down the hall.
She paused for a second to making sure she had the tray under control again. Then she set it aside and went to the door where the sound seemed to come from and knocked.
“Kae? Is everything alright?”
( Risa, Jess, if either of you want to jump in, I never did mention just how much food Tre had fetched )

Kaelir was in shock when she heard Tregarde knock at the door. It took her several, long agonizing moments to reply. She did not take her eyes off Shaine.
"Not really. Maybe you better come look," Kaelir called to the hallway.

Tregarde opened the door and peered inside. Kaelir’s room always caused a little concern because of its starkness – a sharp contrast to the Officers’ Quarters where all manner of items were scattered about (and with three headstrong women living together, each with their own tastes and opinions, it was not unknown for a ‘discussion’ about the merits of a particular item or decoration to ensue). It always seemed to Tre as if Kae expected she might have to leave at any second.
But this time there was an addition to the room, a very startling addition. Her eyes fell upon the women, covered in cuts and blood. She spied the broken window. That the woman had come through the window was obvious. For a fleeting moment she wondered how; the window was on the second floor, for the woman to get up here…?
She pushed the questions aside for now, first the woman would have to be tended to. “Wait here,” she said as she turned away. Tregarde went to the tray and grabbed the pitcher of water and napkins on it, then returned to Kaelir’s room. The woman would need careful attention to remove the glass in her skin before any real healing could begin. Outside Kae’s room she called down the hallway for assistance.
Tregarde entered Kaelir’s room. As she went to kneel by the injured woman she asked, “Goddess, Kae, what is going on here?”

Rolling her eyes in slight annoyance she closed the book she was studying and got up. Ever since she had gotten back apparently a lot of work and research had piled up and guess who got stuck with it. She stretched and head over to Kaelir's room. Glancing inside her eyes went wide. "What in Shilen's name is going on here?" ((I'm placing this AFTER the ritual, well after lol unless someone says otherwise ))

"uhm..." Kaelir looks at the injured dark elf. "Tregarde, meet Shiane. A... cultist."
Shaine rolled over, clutching herself in pain. "Not anymore. I'm not like that anymore, Kaelir."
"Can I trust you?" Kaelir said. She looked back at the beserker blade. "You know what they did to me, don't you?"
"I know!" Shaine said. She cried out, shuddering, as she continued to cough. "I know and I'm sorry but I need your help! You have that book, don't you?"
"What book?" Kaelir asked. She did a quick search through Shaines mind. On the surface, imbedded in pain and the recent trauma, she appeared to be honest. Kaelir would trust her, for now.
"The Enemies of Shillen. The list." Shiane said. "I need to see it."
Kaelir looked at Shaine for a long moment, then went to the dresser and opened the bottom drawer. There, on the empty shelf, was the book.
"This isn't leaving my sight," Kaelir said as she handed the book to the injured dark elf. Shaine took the book with shaking hands, leaving a smear of blood on the cover as she opened it.
"Here," she said, pointing a finger at the last name on the list. "Someone added me!" Kaelir caught the book as the woman broke into sobs, and looked down at the name.
"Pelfer," Kaelir said outloud. "Shaine Pelfer. But that wasn't there before... and I didn't add it. No one else could have..." She looked at Tregarde with worry. "Could they?"
Shaine suddenly began to scream. "Help me, please Kaelir! You have to kill the shadow servant! You have to kill it!" She grabbed Kaelir's hand with her own, and said in a haunted whisper. "It's coming for me."
"I... already killed it." She looked at Tregarde again.
This wasn't good.

Makora was lying on his bed when he heard a crash come from Kaes room. He didn't move since he figured she probly just dropped something. He heard Tre, than Kae than...an unfamiliar voice so he decided to get up and take a look. He opened the door and poked his head out "Hey! Whats all the ruckus? I'm trying to rest!" Seeing no one in the hall he made his way into Kaes room where he found Kae, Tre, Jess, and an unfamiliar Dark Elven woman. Seeing the strange woman on Kaes bed he just sighed and said "Why am I not suprised?"

"Seems to me that you're getting a little bit of irony with a touch of karma coming back at you girl. If she really is who she says she is Kaelir she sh ould be in a jail cell." ::Jess shrugs, watching as things plays out but immidiately calls on magic to be at her beck and call, her fingers sparkling briefly and eyes beginning to shine with the energy she's infusing herself with:: "I just suggest you don't try to run or hurt anyone girl"

Tregarde looked at Jess when she saw the glow out of the corner of her eye. “Jess, please… I don’t think she’s in any condition to do anything right now.”
She then looked to Shaine. “Assuming everything you just said is true, why would you be added to the list?” Her head turned to Kaelir with a look of concern. “How could her name have been added? And… could there be more than one shadow?”

Leaning agianst the door frame, Makora distinctley remembered the last time he had to deal with shadows. He had been knocked out and chained up in some cave. It hadn't been one of his best days.

Shaine looked up at Tregarde. "I broke the pact with the Eyes of Shillen, that I had made as a child. You really can't imagine what they had done... not unless you have been there. Like I have." Her eyes met with Kaelir's. "Like her."
Kaelir sighed. Why did this have to happen - just when she was getting better? Just after everyone's trust in her had been completely destroyed and she could nearly feel their thoughts, wondering when Kaelir would snap and go crazy again.
"More than one?" Kaelir asked. She hadn't even considered the possibility, really. But it seemed very likely. "It is... possible." She looked at Shaine.
"I thought all the cultists were dead?" Kaelir said.
Shaine laughed, but the laugh was bitter and full of hurt. "No, not dead. Hidden, yes, but not dead. In dark places, and dark hearts. They are even.... in high positions at the temple."
"Who could have added your name to the list - while it was in my dresser?" Kaelir sighed again. This really wasn't looking good for her.
"Someone has access to it. The book is magically sealed, after all. They could add the names... remotely, if they had connections to the list. And they did that - they did that to me when I left!"
((Okay, I'm setting this after Kaelir goes to the temple and is sentenced.

*shakes her head and sighs, then holds her hand out *"Hand the book over. I have enchantments that will keep anyone getting to it EVEN by remote distance..at least long enough until the Vault is built" ((will explain this little thing online but you guys would've heard about it by now)). "Besides..that book belongs in safer hands anyway."
