The dark elf walked through the field, a casual pace quick enough to carry him where he needed to go. Not that he had anywhere to be, he just enjoyed the stroll through the grass.
The moon overhead illuminated the Garden of Shilen clearly, and he watched as the new trainees exited the temple for their training. How fondly he remembered those days.
To the untrained eye, he appeared just as the trainees, clad in his old wooden armor. It would not serve in true combat, but in these parts there was little to fear.
He nodded to Kreed, watching as the executioner ran past toward town. That's when his eyes settled on the younger dark elf sprinting toward him, clad in loose, flowing cloth marked with the colors of his house. He straightened as the other approached, waiting for him to kneel and taking the letter offered.
"This just arrived, sir," the page said in hushed tones, eyes averted. The knight looked at the seal in the wax and nodded, a smile curling over his lips.
"Get out of my sight. You have work to finish." The page scrambled to comply, unwilling to risk the wrath and ire of the knight.
So, she finally takes time to write back, he thought as he broke the seal and began to read, his smile breaking wide open, his laugh startling a nearby keltir. She certainly has spirit.
